LED lighting is often the least expensive* and the most rewarding ECM project offering some of the fastest paybacks. Economics plays heavily in LED projects, but other important motivations include old fixtures that are inoperative and existing lights that are inadequate or lighting fixtures that generate too much summertime heat. The electrical energy wasted on lighting results in heat generation. LED light fixtures that are 2 to 15 times more lumen producing efficiency generate less heat which in airconditioned buildings has to be cooled. If you reduce the electrical load of the lighting by 100 Kw this results in an HVAC cooling reduction of 40 Kw or more.
