As a manufacturer you have highly specialized processes with production planning professionals that are familiar with the best manufacturing solutions. Green Management can assist you with building automation and “ECM” energy conservation management to improve productivity, maintenance and reliability. We offer surge protected lighting retrofits, DR “Demand Reduction”, “M&V” Monitoring and Verification, rooftop PV solar, energy storage and an array of office energy conservation services.

Conserving Energy Can Mean Big Savings

For example, VFD Motors used to drive pumps and blowers in variable flow applications generally achieve tremendous savings because input power varies with motor speed cubed, or a motor running at ½ speed draws 7/8 less power. For larger motors this is significant. A 25 kW (33hp) motor that operates continuously (8,000 hrs/yr) operating @ 50% half its time & 100% the rest would theoretically save 4,000 hrs x 25Kw x 0,875 = 87,500 kWh. Using an Ontario average cost of 0.17/KwH. Results in savings of $14,000/year.

Energy saving advances are part of the “Smart Building” trend. Networks of sensors continuously send a stream of occupancy, temperature, lighting, HVAC data to a cloud based neural network driven by API programs. In turn the APIs direct building controls within the building’s infrastructure, offer real-time response to operator queries, deliver management reports and SMS exception alerts to designated responders whenever key infrastructure falls outside normal operating parameters. Many of today’s device sensors and controllers are wireless, making them ideal for installation in existing buildings.

Energy Conservation Measures

Many industrial clients benefit from a detailed energy audit to sequence short term heavy loads and optimize circuit loads which potentially uncovers capacity that allows room for expansion without the high cost of new electrical infrastructure.

"DR" Demand Response: Reducing peak grid demand to reduce energy costs and taking advantage of Ontario’s "GA" Global Adjustment that benefits large consumers during peak demand periods to shift, reduce or replace their grid loads. Link

Renewable Power Generation

Your industrial building may have a flat roof that can support renewable energy and energy storage. While the renewable energy generated may only be a small proportion of your total, it does have certain direct and indirect benefits including peak-shaving as part of your DR program. Severe climate change drives ever more violent weather that often results in prolonged grid outages lasting from several minutes to days. Having solar power coupled with minimal energy storage allows for critical infrastructure (servers, telephones, Security systems, lighting, climate controls, refrigeration, etc.) to continue unabated with critical infrastructure security. Indirect benefits include a recognition by clients, staff and the general public that you attribute importance to the greening of your brand.

"ECM" Energy Conservation Management

“Building Intelligence” sensors and controls forming an automated and continuous supervisory system

"M&V" Monitoring & Verification (usually cloud based)

"SMS" Pre established criteria that triggers an alert to a designated "smartphone" or other system

"API" Application programing Interface based on database content
